My science story begins when I was just a nagging little sister following my brother around as he explored the woods behind our house when we were kids ( I am still a nagging little sister). We loved finding different types of berries and having berry fights with them. There was an old farm in the woods behind our house long before we lived there and my brother and I would dig up all kinds of artifacts from the old farm. We found old farming tools, milk bottles, and household items. We used to pretend we were archeologists at some big ancient dig.
Most recently my science story has continued in my fascination for plants and vegetables and how to make them grow. My husband and I constructed out first greenhouse this spring (after all the rain last summer ruined our garden). It has been a great learning experience in greenhouse gardening for us. We learned a lot about proper soil, which vegetables thrive in a warm environment, as well as pollination. It was a great growing season for us and we had a lot of fun!
I have enjoyed science in my life through my own inquisition and through various science classes during school, however, I am currently participating in by far the coolest science “project” ever: I am 11 weeks pregnant!! I am beyond excited and beyond fascinated by all the changes the human body goes through during pregnancy. The science behind it all is truly amazing! My life is all about science right now... so that is my science story!
Megan,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I agree, the science behind what our bodies do is truly fascinating.
I always wondered about growing vegetables in a greenhouse and I think that is great that you had a successful growing season even with all of the heat this summer. I did one of those upside down tomato plant and that didn't work out so well for me.

Megan,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your pregnancy!!! That is so exciting!!
That's awesome that you and your husband built your own greenhouse!
And I love your picture in the leaves! Is that in your greenhouse?

Wow! I am so impressed that you guys built a greenhouse! That's epic! I'm very curious about what plants youre growing. I would grow lots of arugula, basil and lettuces. Do you grow just veggies or anything else?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on beginning your journey as parents! That's so exciting!
Hahaha thanks everybody! yes that picture was taken in the greenhouse! we didn't do a very good job with our spacing! I will post some pics of our greenhouse in the making! We grew lettuce, tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini, green beans, snap peas, peppers, and cucumbers. It was a big success!
